Welcome football fans to Texas Football Ratings, a site covering high school, college, and pro football.

I developed this website this year after spending the last five years doing my ratings as a hobby with results that only friends and family were able to view.    Anyone who sets up and maintains their own ratings system is fully aware of the tremendous amount of time spent entering, calculating, and updating information.   As of this year, I decided I would like to take the opportunity to share my ratings with others who enjoy the game of football and the excitement of trying to accurately predict a team’s season.

First, I would like to say this is not a perfect ratings site.    When I can find a site that is able to predict all teams correctly then I will abandon this one and go to that one. This site is only based on the opinion of how I figure my ratings of each team.    The past five years that I have done my ratings I’ve averaged between 76% and 80% at predicting the correct teams for the season. The first of the season is anybody’s pick, but as the season goes on, the ratings get better and my percentage goes up. By the 3 rd or 4th week, 80% is not out of the question from then on. But you do have that room for the occasional upset and the teams that are picked so close that it’s a flip of the coin to see who will win.

Regarding questions and comments:  If you have corrections on schedules and scores, please e-mail me. If you have positive information for this site, I will be happy to read it and get back to you. However, if you are among one the many expert ratings analysts that have nothing better to do but downgrade other people’s sites though you have no site of your own, then please don’t waste your time e-mailing me because your e-mail will not be read nor responded to. As previously stated above, predicting what 15 to 18 year old kids will do on any given night is nearly impossible.

I feel my site has a different approach than do other rating sites in that I offer a Preseason Package with a Predicted Overall and District Record based solely on the ratings of if each team was to play at that level every week with home field advantage figured in. There are several games that could go either way, causing a team with a losing record to have a winning record.    So, once again, it’s just a projected result of how each football team could end up. Also included in the district standings is my ratings of the team, the school’s population, region, state, and overall rankings, last years overall and district record, returning letterman, offensive and defensive starters, letterman lost, and whether or not the team changed classes in UIL realignment.   This way you can look at the District Standings and see how you feel the team will end up based on the information I provided.    Then there’s the Playoff Predictions where you can see the team’s ratings and predicted winner through each round all the way to my State Championship pick. There’s also the Team Schedules where you can look your district of schools  and see your team’s schedules with overall and district wins, ratings, and picks for the whole season so that you can see where your team is and how they should end up.    Additionally, you will find Regional, State, and Overall Rankings of every team all inside the Preseason Package.

The Weekly Package will also cover Regional Rankings, Comparison Rankings, State Rankings, Overall Rankings, and District Standings updated as soon as all the scores are in. The District Standings will cover overall and district wins, offensive and defensive points, my ratings, school population, regional, state, and overall rankings, the next week’s opponent, home or away, and my pick. The Schedules page is where you can find all of the scores of your team and see the new picks for each team to see how they should do the next week and the rest of the season. The State and Overall Rankings will include overall records, offensive and defensive points, team rating, preseason rating and difference of the preseason and current rating to see whether or not the team   has improved. The Regional Rankings will include overall records and ratings of each team. The Comparison Rankings will include Overall records , Preseason, and Current ratings.

You can check out the Offensive Point Leaders, Defensive Point Leaders, and Margin of Victory Leaders during the season  to see how your Team is faring offensively and  defensively. I also add the High School State Champions, College Champions, and Pro Champions and all of the past years of rankings back to 1998 of when I first started my ratings. You also can check out the Results of weekly picks to see how good or bad each week is going based on my predictions.  I also added Pro and College into the mix of things, with rankings, standings, and schedules for each team.  Don’t get too excited when you look at the Preseason Pro Package and see teams going 16-0 cause it ain’t gonna happen.    It’s just basically my system running my ratings though the schedules and all teams playing at that level every week. It’s just out there to give you an idea of how the team should do throughout the year.

I hope that you enjoy viewing my site and can have fun monitoring how your team does through the season.  I want to thank everyone who will try and give this site a chance.   Just keep in mind, this is all for fun and is only an opinion, so please keep an open mind and good luck to all the teams this year.
